August/September Newsletter

Thank you for helping us make the first days of school a success! Because safety is of utmost importance to us, please do not drop off K4 through 4th grade students in the secondary line (the parking lot). Also, we request that you exit to the right only. Once MSU traffic beings, it is virtually impossible to turn left. Also, you can assist us with afternoon carpool by making sure you have your number card visible in the window.

School pictures: 7th-12th grade pictures will be taken on Thursday, August 30th. These students should wear their OXFORD CLOTH shirts. Senior yearbook portraits will also be taken on August 30th. Senior guys will need a navy sport coat over their oxford cloth shirt. (A tie will be provided.) Senior girls will have theirs taken in drapes provided. These are REQUIRED for the SCS yearbook. On Friday, August 31st students in grades K4-6th grade will have their school pictures taken. They should wear their GREEN polo shirts.

Parent/Staff Communication: Communication between SCS staff and parents is important. The staff and administration will check email daily and will respond during their free/planning period. We will attempt to answer all email within a 24 hour period. Our first priority is to teach the students; therefore, we will be unable to respond at other times.   We request that you do not text or email our staff after hours when they are spending time with their families. Notes from home and in assignment pads are encouraged. If there is an emergency during school hours, please contact the office.

For up-to-date information, please join SCS on Facebook.

Attendance

Any elementary student arriving between 8:00-9:00 will be recorded as tardy. Elementary students being checked in after 9:00 and before 11:00 will be marked as a partial absence. Arrival after 11:00 will be recorded as a full day absence. Students in grades 8-12 will be marked tardy or absent for each class period. More than 15 minutes missed in a class period is considered absent for that class.

Perfect Attendance

Perfect attendance will only be given to students with less than three tardies, no absences, no partial days, or less than three early departures (before 2:45 for grades 1-6; 3:00 for grades 7-12).
